Description

As a Mainframe Application Developer on the Transmission Management (TM)Team, you will provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs by developing and maintaining applications within a mature technical infrastructure. TM is a 24X7 Real Time message routing application that processes incoming and outgoing value bearing instructions for the US Custody Systems Division of JP Morgan. Responsibilities will encompass both application development and production support activities. You will utilize mainframe programming methodologies and languages and adhere to coding standards, procedures and techniques while contributing to the technical code documentation.

Core technical components of TM are COBOL, DB2, CICS and VSAM. You will also work with MQ and TCPIP messaging protocols that are employed to establish communications with both internal and external customers

You will interact with our world wide Client Services organization in helping to document business requirements. This will include participation in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts and team members to analyze these requirements and outline the proposed IT solution. You will participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations; incorporate security requirements into design; and provide input to information/data flow, and understand and comply with the PDF Project Life Cycle Methodology in all planning steps. You will also adhere to IT Control Policies throughout design, development and testing and incorporate Corporate Architectural Standards into application design specifications. Additionally, you will document the detailed application specifications, translate technical requirements into programmed application modules and develop/enhance software application modules. You will participate in code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications; identify/troubleshoot application code-related issues; and review and provide feedback to the final user documentation.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years work experience in the Mainframe environment.

Minimum of 5-7 years experience programming in COBOL

Minimum of 3 experience coding CICS with DB2 in an online real time environment

Knowledge of MQ

Capable of independent problem solving

Must be able to work with internal and external clients to communicate ideas and requirements - verbally and in writing.

Solid design, coding, testing and debugging skills

Experience working with IP messaging protocols (desirable)

Experience with version and revision control practices and procedures

Knowledge of Webshere Message Broker (WMB) (desirable)

Knowledge of Securities Processing (desirable)
